Nioh is an action role-playing game developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. It was released exclusively for PlayStation 4 in February 2017 and later received a PC version in November 2017. The game is set in a fictionalized version of the Sengoku period in Japan and draws inspiration from Japanese history, mythology, and folklore.

Nioh follows the story of William Adams, a Western samurai who embarks on a quest in feudal Japan during the 1600s. Inspired by the real-life historical figure of the same name, William battles various supernatural creatures, demons, and rival samurai while uncovering a conspiracy involving powerful spirits and the emergence of an evil force known as the Yokai.

The gameplay in Nioh blends fast-paced action with elements of role-playing and challenging combat. Players engage in intense battles using a variety of weapons, including swords, axes, spears, and ranged weapons like bows and firearms. The combat system emphasizes precise timing, dodging, blocking, and executing combos to defeat enemies.
