history of "ghost of tsushima"

"Ghost of Tsushima" is an action-adventure video game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 console on July 17, 2020.

The game is set in the late 13th century on the Japanese island of Tsushima during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. Players assume the role of Jin Sakai, a samurai warrior who becomes one of the last surviving members of his clan after a devastating battle. Determined to protect his homeland and drive out the Mongol invaders, Jin abandons his traditional samurai practices and adopts stealthy tactics, becoming the "Ghost of Tsushima."

Development of "Ghost of Tsushima" began in 2014, following the completion of Sucker Punch's previous game, "Infamous: Second Son." The studio aimed to create an open-world experience set in feudal Japan that would capture the beauty and authenticity of the time period. Sucker Punch extensively researched Japanese history, culture, and landscapes to ensure a faithful representation of Tsushima Island.
